Spring is Here

According to the Met. Office, spring is here. This is a reason to celebrate in itself. There is new life is appearing all over the farm, our seedlings are germinating and we are beginning to see an end to our awful British winter weather.

We have already been preparing for the new season by sowing seeds, rotovating, making and repairing.

Our cold frame covers were in a mess and so we have made new ones. Here you can see a team of the people we support, staff and volunteers working together to create the best environment to harden off our young plants once they have left the polytunnels.

We had no designated area to grow seeds and protect our fragile young seedling from severe frosts. We have made special propagation areas that can be covered when there is a risk of frost. Terri, has been overseeing the planting of the seeds in line with Zeb’s planting spreadsheet organiser.

The people we support and our lovely camera shy Jane have been working hard rotovating plots to create optimum planting conditions for our young plants. We have begun to plant out some of our most hardly crops.
