Purpose built facilities – log splitting and aging

Our log splitting is done in a purpose built shed and the wood is stored and aged outside ready for use.

Safety is our first concern and anyone working in our log splitting shed is fully trained. The splitters are put in their own ‘safety zones’, which are not allowed to be entered during operation.

Here at the farm, we use hydraulic oil log splitters, which use a hydraulic cylinder to push a cut piece of log into a sharpened wedge, which splits it.

Each of our logs are cut and stacked by the capable hands of the Dale Farm team. We stock firewood of all sizes, perfectly dried to keep the fire going.

Wood Chipping

Our wood chipping bagging service is available all year round. Wood chips can be used for:

• Mulching around your plants.
• Adding them to your compost pile (if small enough)
• Creating new growing areas with layered organic materials.
• Creating natural pathways.
• Creating new wildlife habitats.
