Spring Preparations

A New Season

Spring is a busy and happy time here at Dale Farm. Spring is a time of preparation, new growth, planting and new projects. Our bees begin to wake up and we prepare for the new honey making season.

Bee hives

Our bees are out and about foraging, amongst the spring flowers. The people we support have been preparing the frames for our bee hives, ready for a new season of yummy honey. We have also built a new shed for the storage of our bee keeping materials.

Getting ready to sow seeds

Everyone rolls up their sleeves, we put the music on and we start washing hundreds of pots ready for the new growing season. Everyone mucks in as well as having some fun.

Sowing and growing

In spring, we sow and transplant, water and feed, some plants are grown for sale at our spring fair, others are food crops, which will be sold later in the season. We have been busy chitting potatoes, mulching the field and getting the growing areas ready. There is something for everyone to do, we adapt people’s work according to their needs and abilities to ensure everyone is involved.
