Sports Week
Last week was the European Week of Sports; as part of the the celebrations Wirral Evolutions decided to have some fun and organise their own sports week. As Dale Farm is part of the Wirral Evolutions umbrella, Dale Farm was also included in these activities.
Day to day people the people we support are exercising as part of their work. So, sports week was a chance to have some fun and for people to participate in as many activities as they were able. Here at Dale Farm we have people with varying abilities and we wanted include everyone, whether this be flag making, football or wheelchair based activities.
Here are some of the highlights of the week, win or lose, fast or slow, we all had a good time (only events with pictures have been included).
Sports Day
Everyone is always a winner in our eyes, but the team did really well and competed across several events to win a whole host of prizes. Our team had loads of fun and showed real sportsmanship.
Tenpin Bowling
The competition was fierce, but Steve, Steve and Tony, ‘bowled over’ the other teams and won the competition in style.
Football – 5 a Side
No matter what team they supported, our guys came together to form ‘Team Dale Farm’. The guys played really well and fought really bravely, but unfortunately they were just pipped to the post and didn’t win a prize. Dave, Rob, Alastair, John and Dave, you did us proud!
Sponsored Walk
The farm has people with various walking abilities as well as wheelchair users. The walks were organised by Arthur, one of our volunteers. Many of the people we support got sponsorship to raise money for Dementia UK. Two levels of walk were planned across the beautiful Heswall Dales, which is right on our doorstep. A further event was also planned around the farm for those who could not participate in the walking events.
Those who were unable to participate stayed at the farm and busied themselves with farm activities.
Finish Line
Wheelchair Event
Paul, always finds a way to participate, his fighting spirit and determination, should be an inspiration to us all.
